I am a registered telehealth provider in Florida and a licensed telehealth provider in Vermont.
I work with adults and provide individual and couples counseling. I specialize in therapy for anxiety, depression, and addictions disorders. I treat trauma and also help family members of substance use disordered persons set boundaries, utilize better coping skills, and practice self-care.
My Beliefs
One's struggles are often connected to our thinking. Our thoughts, belief systems, and coping skills are learned. When these lessons are negative, we may feel anxious, angry, or depressed. As a result, we often do not take care of ourselves or cope in healthy ways. We resort to destructive behaviors such as addictive behaviors, codependency, or excessive worry. Or we may shut down. If we tap into faulty thinking and work to challenge and re-frame it, we can change the way we feel and this will will lead to change in how we behave.
My Approach
Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), we will explore your thoughts, and discuss the ways they play a role in whatever it is that is troubling you. You will learn how to change any unhelpful thinking and how to increase your coping skills so you can relieve your pain.
You will learn to calm your mind by learning mindfulness skills and healthy ways to relax. I will introduce you to both cognitive and behavioral coping skills, and we can discuss whether EMDR or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an appropriate treatment approach to meet your needs. Regardless of which methods we employ, you will gain a set of tools to manage your symptoms to improve your life.
